Papa Mali – Songs of New Orleans and more!\nThe Big Easy in Buffalo NOLA Series\nThursday December 12 at The Cave\, Doors 6pm\, Show 7pm\nFREE SHOW – optional free-will donation at the door to support The Big Easy in Buffalo \nCollectively Joe Krown and Papa Mali are taking Joe’s latest release “Tribute” on the road. It is a curated collection of songs from many of New Orleans’ gifted musicians: Dr. John\, Allen Toussaint\, Walter ‘Wolfman’ Washington\, and many more. Joe showcases his piano expertise\, andwith a little bit of help from his trio and his friend Papa Mali\, the songs will come to life. This show is a must for all who love New Orleans music. Specifically\, New Orleans piano. \nJoe Krown is a resident and is based out of the city of New Orleans. He is a New Orleans style piano and Hammond B-3 player.In addition to his solo and trio work under his own leadership\, he is currently touring all over the U.S. and the world as the organ/piano player for the multi award winning\, chart topping Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band\, and was a longtime member of Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown’s band.Joe was the first-ever Big Easy in Buffalo artist\, opening for Ellis Marsalis in 2007 and has been back frequently with Walter “Wolfman” Washington. \nPapa Mali is a New Orleans based\, American singer-songwriter\, guitarist and producer.He has been a touring musician and recording artist for decades. Yet\, he is probably best known as the front man for 7 Walkers\, a band formed in 2009 that includes three musical icons: Grateful Dead founding member and drummer Bill Kreutzmann\, The Meters’ founding bassist\, George Porter Jr. and lyricist Robert Hunter. \nSince 2007 The Big Easy in Buffalo has brought New Orleans and Louisiana music and culture to the Western New York region several times a year for free and low cost live performance\, as well as music education and mentoring for local musicians\, students\, and the community. Through The Big Easy in Buffalo thousands of students\, dozens of local bands\, and countless audience members in Western New York have been exposed to this unique American culture.The Big Easy in Buffalo is made possible in part by the NYS Council on the Arts\, buffalo.fm\, Erie Co\, The Cave & Sportsmens Tavern\, and National Fuel Gas Co.
